MULTIFUNCTIONAL PLATEFORM PROJECT (MFPP)
Burkina Faso: in activity
“Like all the other women, I was initially afraid of the mill, but I got used to it and I enjoy doing work that was reserved for men. I thank the Foundation for this MFP.”
A MFP is an energy infrastructure used to grind grain, grind shea nuts, husk rice, charge batteries, weld etc. By bringing energy to the heart of the village, the MFP free women and girls up from domestic tasks that usually consume a lot of their time and energy. Instead, they can focus on income-generating activities or on their schooling.
The implementation of MFP not only fights against poverty, but also addresses gender inequality by empowering women. This also has the effect of boosting economic growth through the creation of small businesses, funded through a microcredit service with the help of the Federation of Banks in Burkina Faso.
- Number of MPTF installed from 2011 to 2016: 10
- $20,443 net income generated by the MPTF (as of June 30,2016)
- $ 4,255 net income generated by the MPTF (as of June 30, 2015)
